At Audio High we are privileged to play a significant part in helping customers create homes and workspaces that offer the benefits of the latest technologies in ways that blend in with and enhance the aesthetics of the rest of the building. Below are some pictures from our stores and customer sites that might offer some ideas for your own projects.
Our latest and most exciting project is a 300,000+ square foot hacienda-style estate featuring the very best in home automation and discretely hidden technology. With invisible speakers and stealth TVs, flush-mounted keypads and control panels, and an advanced home automation and lighting control system, our clients get the highest performance while maintaining a beautiful, classic look in their home. The guest house alone has over 450 zones of lighting, 180 lighting keypads, 80 touch-panels, 13 A/V rack locations, and a beautiful home theater created in a beautiful hacienda style to match the rest of the home. The estate will be host to guests from all over the world with touch-panels that change between English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, and Mandarin with the press of a button. We are creating hundreds of pages of engineering drawings to plan and document this amazing project.
Audio High was brought into re-vamp this newly remodeled spec home after it was recently purchased by the latest home-owner. We were tasked with improving almost every aspect of technology within the residence: (1) upgrading the speakers, amplifiers and adding Sonos music players for audio distribution, (2) upgrading the Crestron lighting system for better control/dimming of new and existing LED fixtures, (3) custom programming keypads per the owner’s specifications, (4) simplifying the touch-panel user interface and expanding it’s functionality for whole home control and monitoring from every room. TV displays were upgraded and the respective video distribution was also expanded to include an array of source options in every room, and the ability to share any individual rooms’ content in any other part of the house. We also helped better integrate and manage the various sub-system upgrades throughout the house with the Crestron control system: Mitsubishi HVAC system, surveillance, and access control. While the high-end spec home market is expanding, one of the major areas often neglected in these homes is the technology. The technological bare minimum is often enough to sell the home, but not near the performance expected by a home-owner purchasing such a premier property.
Audio High transformed this living room with a truly amazing sounding audio system: Kef Reference 3 front left and right speakers, Kef Reference 2c center speaker, Kef CI200RR in-ceiling surrounds and JL Audio F112 subwoofer. The system is powered by Parasound Halo amplification and Marantz pre-amplifier with remote control from RTI. We worked with the customer to build out the cabinets to perfectly fit the subwoofer and two separate slide out rack systems as well as finding a speaker finish the perfectly matched existing cabinetry woodwork.
This Brentwood basement theater seats 12 people in custom Fortress theater seats with motorized back and leg rests mechanisms. The 159” Da-Lite screen displays a super bright image from the Sim2 crystal cube projector hidden in the soffit at the back of the room. The cabinets integrated with Kinetic Noise Control acoustically transparent fabric hide a Kef R-Series speaker system and Sunfire subwoofers powered by Integra integrated surround sound processor.
With the simple press of a button on a hand-held remote the Sim2 projector turns on, a Da-Lite 133” screen drops down from the cabinet header, and blackout shades deploy at both windows, converting this living room/library space into a cozy home theater. The KEF R-series audio system is hidden away in the lower level of the front cabinets, with a slide-out rack system hidden in the back bar/kitchenette.
While we everyone wants to see a spectacular image on their projection screen , no one wants to see a big projector hanging off their ceiling. At Audio High we pride ourselves on coming up with the best and most creative solutions to preserve the simple beauty and clean lines of the media space, and either completely hide or seamlessly integrate our projection systems into some of the most complicated ceiling framings.
Audio High was brought into upgrade this newly remodeled Beverly Hills spec home after it was recently purchased by an existing Audio High customer. The biggest task was cleaning out the nest of wires in the rack room, and properly toning, labeling, and landing in the rebuilt rack system. The original house had a full Crestron lighting system, but a single SONOS player distributing audio over a single stereo amplifier and 24 zones of speaker selection. The original TV displays throughout the house had a simple DirecTV box shoved behind the TV. We replaced and upgraded every single in-ceiling speaker, added a dedicated amplifier channel to each speaker, and a dedicated SONOS player for each independent room. Every TV display was updated to the latest Sony 4k display with local in-wall enclosures that cleanly hid a local Apple TV, Roku, and DirecTV DVR as well as IP controlled power distribution for easily resetting the standalone TV system. All the TV systems were also coupled with SONOS play-bars and subs, as well as a Connect Amp to add the in-ceiling speakers as the surround zone while watching TV or as full speakers while playing music. We added 8 x Crestron TSW in-wall touch-panels for control of the lighting, HVAC, pool/spa and audio/video systems. Audio High worked closely with the electricians to make sure all lights were zoned and dimming properly as well as re-programmed for whole house macros and individual keypad button presses customized to the owners specifications. For the exterior we setup and discretely installed a 32-speaker/4-subwoofer Sonance outdoor landscape speaker system for a full and evenly distributed outdoor listening environment. Lastly, we implemented an enterprise level Pakedge managed network and wi-fi system, that hosted one of our newest IP-phone systems that allowed the client to not only use as a standard phone system, but also control the Sonos system from any phone touch-screen through the house.
This Malibu dedicated media room was recently completed in 2016. It features a Sony 600 Series 4k projector combined with a Stewart Firehawk filmscreen with horizontal masking. Sony’s automated zoom/shift/focus feature combined with the variable side masking allows the system to effortlessly switch back and forth between 2.35 and 1.78 aspect ratios for displaying both standard HDTV picture size and widescreen movie formats. The sound-system features KEF’s THX certified 5160 in-wall speakers hidden behind the acoustically transparent fabric for the left, center and right speakers, KEF 3160 side speakers, and the KEF CI series speakers for rear surrounds and in-ceiling Dolby Atmos height channels. The system is powered by top of the line Integra integrated surround sound processor, with extra power added for the front left, center, right speakers from a Parasound Halo A31 amplifier. Dual Sunfire HRS series subwoofers provide a super clean low end bass performance.
This spec home was a collaboration between Audio High Los Angeles and Mario Romano of 24 PreFab. The house includes Lutron lighting control system and automated shades, surveillance, access control, a whole house Music System, a Master Bedroom Projection System with screen recessed into the ceiling and an amazing outdoor patio projection system. Audio High Los Angeles also designed and installed all the linear LED lighting featured throughout the house. The house was purchased before completion in late 2014.
With two successful projects already complete at Lot 2 and Lot 8 on the Marisol Malibu development we are currently working on this sophisticated modern home under construction on Lot 4. This house features fully automated Crestron control system: Crestron lighting, Crestron shades, and Crestron climate control. The house also boasts a custom home theater with 150″ panoramic Stewart Screen with masking to standard HD ratio, 4k Projector and the latest THX-certified in-wall speaker systems. The Master Bedroom features a flush-mounted/recessed drop down projection screen and projector. Whole house music system run is powered by music servers driving in-ceiling speakers. The modern design of this house is preserved with keypads and touch-panel trim finishes that provide a true flush mount
This Los Angeles theater was recently finished in the fall of 2013 and is the pinnacle of the Audio High and Meridian theater experience. The home-owner wanted a 50 seat theater to accommodate large groups of family and friends and transformed a 30 foot wide by 40 foot long room into a 1970s era cinema with a digital projection and surround sound systems unparalleled in performance. Meridian’s 810 Projector/Scaler combination outputs a stunning 4k image on a 23 foot by 10 foot screen, while three DSP8000 digital active loudspeakers, four SW5500 subwoofers, and ten surround speakers output a soundtrack with precision and accuracy that is rarely achieved at such high sound pressure levels in a space so large. Source components include Kaleidescape, DirecTV HD DVR, Mac Computer, Apple TV, and a Sooloos music system with Crestron automation and control through iPad, iPhone, handheld remote, and graphic interface loaded on a Control 15 touchscreen.
This theater is part of an Audio High “rescue” system, where we took a Crestron/Theater and Sooloos Music system with continuing programming and equipment failures. We worked with the client, an expert in design, to create a sleek and intuitive iPad interface to control lighting, shades, HVAC, distributed music, surveillance cameras, and several surround sound video systems. Our rehabilitation also included completely rewiring the equipment rack, eliminating unnecessary equipment, and re-configuring to maximize overall system performance. We are also continuing to upgrade the hardware side of this system to deliver the highest ongoing level of performance and reliability – an area often overlooked by our competition. Audio High is extremely proud of this system as it exemplifies our commitment to satisfy the most discriminating clients who are not only audiophiles and cinephiles but smart-home enthusiasts.

If you come to the Mountain View store be sure check it out.
Audio High’s Meridian Theater in Los Angeles features DSP7200s, DSP5200s, DSP3200, and DSP3100s as well as 861v8 Surround Sound Processor, G61R Surround Processor, Audio Core 200, HD621 HDMI Distribution, and several Sooloos music components.
This is an example of a traditional dedicated home theater room we created for a client. What the image doesn’t show is that beyond this theater, the project entailed whole-house audio, lighting control, networking, and security. While a theater room is often the ‘icing on the cake’, we don’t forget that the ‘cake’ is usually the parts of the solution that customers deal with on a day to day basis.
Watching the big movie in your home theater is a lot of fun . . unless you’re trying to sleep in the room above. In order to create a theater that went to 11 without disturbing the rest of the house we stripped this room to the studs and completely rebuilt it with full sound isolation (suspended ceiling, isolated walls, and engineered acoustical treatment). The result is that with the theater blasting, no sound can be heard from the bedroom directly above.
Audio High installed and calibrated the high-end projection system used at the Sunset Center theater in Carmel-by-the-Sea for the world premiere of the film, The Pebble Beach Experience. Lifetime Achievement Academy Award-winning producer / writer / actor / director Roger Corman was featured in the film and honored at the event. Corman has produced over 400 films, including The Fast and the Furious, which was shown for the first time on Blu-ray at the event.
A recent installation of a system that sits at the very top tier of ultimate 2-channel music systems. The system includes a Chord Red Refence CD-Player as the source into a Chord CPA-5000 Pre-Amplifier, and a pair of Chord SPM-6000 mono-block amplifier powering a pair of Kepheus floor-standing loudspeakers manufactured in Denmark by Peak Consult.
As the top Meridian dealer in the country, many of our installations feature Meridian’s flagship DSP8000 speaker.
How do you integrate great video and surround sound without ruining the interior design of a room? This is an example of how we worked closely with a furniture designer to provide our client with a custom, built-in cabinet which also contained hidden front channel speakers. We matched this with in-wall rear speakers to provide a room full of sound rather than speaker cabinets.
Many customers want a home theater but can’t commit the space to a single use, so we have a lot of experience in creating systems and spaces that can seamlesly switch between different uses. This system has a high-end 2-channel system integrated so the client can listen to music without the compromises typical of a multi-channel theater system.
This cabinet is a small part of a high-end project in Atherton, CA. The overall system also incorporated distributed audio and video, including several surround systems. Balancing functionality with the home’s interior design style and quality was a major factor in the project’s success.
Partnering with Cal Pointe builders and Marisol Malibu, Audio High designed, installed and programmed the Crestron lighting and HVAC system with custom iPad interface. The house’s audio and video, as well as pool and spa, were also integrated into the Crestron automation system. As this amazing development in Malibu continues to grow, Audio High’s partnership with the designers, general contractors, and home-owners allows a perfect execution of design and installation on each new project, where home-technologies are part of the foundation of these homes – not an after-thought.
This 28,000 square foot residence features full home automation on lighting and security as well audio distribution and home theater systems.
We don’t just handle theaters and media rooms. This is a bathroom we did for a client’s home in Hong Kong. The bathroom was just a small part of a much more extensive project which included several surround systems, whole-house audio, control systems, theater, lighting, HVAC, and more.
We also help our customers in their work as well as play. Sometimes the two even combine as with the equipment we supplied for Herbie Hancock’s recording studio. He recognized why Chord amplifiers had also found homes in studios like Abbey Road and Skywalker Sound. He’s also become a big fan of Tetra speakers, owning several pairs. We were equally pleased to have designed and supplied his home theater system.
Sometimes, but not often, the work location outshines the systems we install. These are two of our favorite commercial project sites. On the left is the Sentinel Building in San Francisco, owned by Francis Ford Coppola. To the right is Nina Towers in Hong Kong, one of the tallest buildings in the world, home to Flextronics, the 2nd largest electronics manufacturer in the world.
The Flextronics project in Hong Kong included distributed audio and video, lighting control, security, and data.
We’ve been lucky enough to receive some great press coverage for our showrooms including these articles in CE Retailer and Tone Audio.
