Celebrate 40 years of audio innovation Forty years ago, Bob Stuart and Allen Boothroyd worked together for the very first time and began to design their first products: the distinctive Lecson AC1 control unit and AP1 power amplifier, which went on sale the following year, in 1972. These ground-breaking products won Bob and Allen their first British Design Council Award in 1974 and remain on permanent display in the New York Museum of Modern Art. To celebrate the Ruby Anniversary of Allen and Bob’s creative partnership, Meridian is releasing a special limited 40th Anniversary Edition of Meridian’s most advanced audio replay system, consisting of a special version of the 808 Preamp / CD / Meridian Sooloos Player with a pair of DSP8000 Digital Active Loudspeakers. All the units are built from hand-selected components and include numerous special individually-adjusted performance enhancements that make this stunning system sound even better than the regular DSP8000s and 808.3. Also, each component is given a unique, distinctive, and never-to-be-repeated Ruby Red finish and contrasting driver bezels. The system is unique in other ways too. Only 40 systems in total will be available worldwide and Audio High was selected to receive serial numbers 01 and 02. Number 02 is available at press time and this system represents a fantastic deal as it is basically the same price as the "standard" version of the components when ordered in a custom color, but in this case you get a unique piece of history with specially tweaked to a whole new level of performance. |

Save energy & money and add security with Lutron It would be fair to say Lutron invented advanced lighting control in 1963 with the dimmer switch that is now a part of the Smithsonian's permanent collection. Of course, in the 21st Century, Lutron has systems that can do much more, and more importantly, apply real intelligence to managing the lighting in your home.
The obvious benefit of lighting control is comfort, but with a Lutron system this extends way beyond dimming the lights for movie night. We can install and control motorized blinds as well as lighting of various types. Combine this with controllers that know about the typical direction and duration of sunlight on your home and we can deliver comfort and energy savings without you lifting a finger.
Security is another aspect of lighting control that many people overlook. Lutron offers ways to watch your behavior over a period of time and then play back a simulation when you're away from home for an extended period. To the outside world it looks like real people are in the house moving from room to room and acting as a deterrent to intruders.
Every home is different, and so are the things you want to gain from adding any sort of control system to your home, so contact us for a personal consultation on how we can integrate Lutron systems with your existing control system or as a standalone option.

On Wednesday, January 25th, from 5pm until 8pm Audio High will be hosting an open house with representatives from Audez'e and Smyth Research.Audeze's LCD-2 magnetic planar headphones have been the hottest thing in headphones for the last year, and our sales indicate customers have found the product more than lives up to the "buzz." Audez'e recently announced the next level in performance with the new LCD-3, and we're very excited to have these on demonstration alongside the the LCD-2s. Early reviews for the LCD-3 headphones indicate they not only represent great value but actually raise the bar of what headphones can deliver:
"The Audeze LCD-3 is quite possibly the best dynamic headphone ever." — Jude Mansilla, Head-Fi.org founder"I thought their recently revised LCD-2 was the best-sounding full-size headphone on the planet, but the LCD-3 is even better.... The supersoft lambskin leather pads felt great on my ears. The new headphone is 'faster' and sounds clearer and cleaner." Steve Guttenberg, CNET Audiophiliac Dec 2011 If Audez'e is raising the bar in headphone performance, Smyth Research is completely changing the game in how headphones can be used. Their Realiser A8 profiles what you personally hear in a specific listening environment — number of speakers, placement, tonality, etc. — and allows it to be accurately replicated using high-quality headphones. In essence, you can record our theater or high-end 2 channel room, a mixing studio, or your own existing system, and then experience that listening environment through headphones in another location. It's a unique technology that truly has to be heard to believed, and we'll be happy to demonstrate it at the event.
Although "surround in headphones" has been marketed for some time, it has always been disappointing, so we wouldn't be surprised if you are skeptical. But don't accept our word that this is groundbreaking technology; |

In our efforts to support our local community and the love of great music, Audio High has offered to host a vinyl sale for the Friends of Palo Alto Library. They receive many generous donations throughout the year including LP collections covering all genres. Combined with the rising interest in records and turntables, Audio High is eager to help this worthy community group realize the benefit of these donations and offer advice to local vinyl fanatics on the best tools to enjoy these new purchases for their collections.
Since 1938, the Friends of the Palo Alto Library have supported Palo Alto’s libraries and its users through advocacy, volunteerism, contributions, and book sales. The Friends fund many vital library needs, such as new books, computers and printers, summer reading programs, tutors, and online resources. With 150 energetic volunteers contributing more than 20,000 hours annually, the Friends have raised well over a million dollars to improve Palo Alto libraries in recent years alone.

Porsche has long been synonymous with precision engineering and ultimate
performance, so it should come as no surprise when they look for similar
qualities in their partners. Burmester Audiosysteme - the sound from
Berlin - fit that specification with their enviable history of technical
innovation, teutonic build quality and jaw-dropping sound. In fact one
of Burmester's most famous products is the 911 power amp, so it was a
clearly destiny for the two companies to work together.
The fruit of this partnership can be experienced in the latest Panamera
and Cayenne models offered with a Burmester sound system - a fact not
lost on many automotive journalists who have heaped specific praise on
this particular aspect of these already remarkable cars. But all of
these words mean nothing when compared to the experience of hearing such
a system and that's why Audio High has partnered with Porsche of
Monterey to present you such an opportunity.

ToneAudio recently published an article about Audio High. See About Us for more articles and awards that Audio High has received.
"Two things immediately come to mind when walking through the door of Audio High in Mountain View, California: this is a serious hi-fi store, and mascot Fiona (an adorable soft-coated wheaten terrier) has a very comfy gig. With many of audio and video’s best brands on display to experience, this store feels like the glory days of hi-fi retailing, with a 21st Century twist.
"As you walk into the main showroom, the Sooloos music server is front and center, with an AVID Acutus turntable nearby. There are multiple amplification and speaker choices from KEF, Meridian, Chord, Burmester and Peak Consult, just to name a few brands. And this is a big room, so you can actually sit down and experience these components in a lifelike environment. Audio High is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., but as owner Michael Silver says, “A lot of our business is by appointment and from repeat customers.”..."

| Audio High is proud to be bringing pianist Robert Silverman back to the Bay Area, this time for an eight-concert series of the entire cycle of Beethoven piano sonatas (32 in all). This event is open to the public and will be a charity event. Dates are Sept 9th & 16th and Nov 11th & 18th, 2010; Feb 3rd & 10th and Apr 7th & 14th, 2011. Silverman is one of the world’s premiere pianists, having reached a level of musical and technical authority that can only be accomplished after years of deep commitment to the instrument and its vast literature. In a career spanning more than five decades, he has climbed every peak of serious pianism. |
Many aspects of Mr. Silverman’s playing are frequently noted: a polished technique, an extraordinary range of tonal palette, an uncanny ability to sing his way into the heart of a phrase, and probing interpretations of the most complex works in the repertoire. He is one of the few pianists to tackle both the entire Beethoven piano sonata cycle and the complete Mozart piano sonatas. He has performed in prestigious halls across the globe, has performed with many of the world’s greatest conductors, and has produced many award-winning recordings. His complete discography includes 25 CDs and a dozen LPs. I personally fell in love with his playing when writing a review of his 2003 Chan Centre CD, which includes the devastatingly difficult Liszt B minor piano sonata. His recording of Liszt's piano music received a Grand Prix du Disque from the Liszt Society of Budapest. Audio High will be recording and producing a CD set of all 32 sonatas with Mr. Silverman. For complete information on this event, please see www.audiohigh.org. |
